As you get to the military advisor’s quotes in that article, you start to get more and more confused until you realize something went wrong in the writing of this article.

Either the writer doesn’t understand the quotes he’s using or he asked the wrong questions/didn’t get good answers in his interview and tried to force the results into the article anyway.

The end result is a man who could very well has great impact on this issue rambling about random military nonsense rather than defending a controversial video game that’s being bullied in the mainstream media at the moment.

The entire article would have been poor journalism regardless of the quotes due to the significant chance this military advisor was paid to assist in the game’s production. Of course he would defend it. He’s a biased source. In this context, he’s not a military source. He’s as good as a member of the development team.

Poor journalism all around.
