A couple didn’t make [my Decide-O-Tron list] because I worried they were just too old (Space Invaders, Atari’s Basic Programming, the first Diablo) and I’m sure I completely forgot some too.

Kotaku, Brian Crecente: Decide-O-Tron 8000 Extrudes My Ten Favorite Games [September 29th, 2011]
- Diablo came out in 1996, and didn’t make the list. It can still be purchased in stores in the US, UK, and Europe, although it has been excluded from the recent Diablo Battle Chest re-issue.
- Syndicate came out in 1993, and did make the list. It is currently not available for purchase anywhere, nor is it compatible with modern computer hardware.
- X-Com: Terror from the Deep came out in 1995 and also made the list. It can be purchased via Steam.
Conclusion? There isn’t one, really. It just seems weird that Crecente would exclude Diablo for being “too old” when he included Syndicate - an older, arguably harder-to-attain game - on his list. Unless he knows something we don’t, of course.
But anyway. How’s your week going so far?
