There are people who worked on it for years who've admitted it was horribly unfinished. 3 and Reach are both very nice, but they're not really typical of the usual FPS combat style - more melee, more improvising rather than using guns exclusively.
Although I ended up buying Halo and Halo 2 for the PC, I did first try them on the Xbox and I was in the Halo 3 beta way back when. It didn’t really do anything for me, but I bought the games with a view to seeing if I was wrong.
I wasn’t.
