So, a prominent gaming journalist, let’s call him Ben K… no, that’s to obvious, let’s call him B Kuchera, reviewed a game from a prominent publisher. To protect the innocent, let’s say the publisher’s name rhymes with “Frethesda” who made a game called Rage. Said game was poorly reviewed by said journo. And now, with said publisher’s latest and greatest game coming out, let’s call it “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim”, apparently Mr. Kuchera has not received a review copy of this game. 

For shame. This is a total dick move by Bethesda (whoops, spilled the beans, SPOILERZ!!!1), and just another example of the terrible relationship between PR and press in the gaming industry. “Wah, you didn’t like our game. Wah, we’ll cockblock you from our most anticipated title ever.” Fucking assholes.

This is the sort of thing I absolutely detest, and it’s also one of the reasons many outlets don’t have the balls to give a bad game a low score. This sort of bullshit directly breeds the sort of bullshit I complain about on a regular basis.

Still, Kuchera is a professional. I’m sure he handled it in a mature, level-headed manner.

Of course, Kuchera had to take the fight to twitter, posting something that looks like limericks and in general whining about not getting Skyrim. We’re talking multiple tweets, and retweeting fan poetry. Oh noes! He might actually have to pay for a game?!?!?!! WHERE’S THE FUCKING OUTRAGE!!!!!! “Wah, I’m not getting Skyrim! Wah, I have to pay for a game!” It’s just douchey seeing a “respected” journalist resort to crying.
