Jim raises the point that Blow’s perception that the interview harms Blow as a developer is perhaps inaccurate and isn’t likely to cause him any PR problems. He should probably re-read Blow’s blog post, in particular this bit, which was included in the quote I posted earlier (emphasis is Blow’s, not mine):
When this kind of hack-job is written, it hurts indie developers: it harms our relationship with our business partners like Microsoft or Sony when they think that we called an interview just to trash them in public (or when they know we didn’t really do that, but they have to deal with the PR fallout of the public thinking we did, which is just as bad.)
Sigh. C’mon, Jim. I know I’m a fairly harsh critic of your writing, but usually when you decide to get all wordy about a subject you at least do research first. This is worse than your “HERP DERP DEEEEERRRRPP” post.
Edit: darkwhitehair on Twitter says this:
Goddamn I love that Jim Sterling article. It came off as “Real work is hard, so we post tits. Stop complaining!”
Also he takes a stab at Kotaku! THIS IS AMAZING!
A succinct and accurate appraisal. Beautiful.
